Date and time: 25th June 2025; 10:30 – 11:15 AM (CET) – Global Change and Next Generation Manipulation Experiments – summary of CLEANFOREST Training School
The CLEANFOREST webinar series is hosted by COST Action’s Young Researchers community for all interested researchers and practitioners, usually during the second and fourth week of every month. We are honored to announce that for the twenty-fifth event in the series, we will be joined by Jakub Jeleń (Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland) and Diego Rodríguez (University of Bristol, UK) participants of the CLEANFOREST Training School on Global Change and Next Generation Manipulation Experiments (GCNG) at BIFoR-FACE (University of Birmingham). A short summary of their talk is given below.
BIFoR-FACE measures the effects of elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) levels on ecological responses in an oak dominated forest. More specifically, the mission of the FACE research is to determine the impact of climate change on forest biology and ecology, with a key focus on leaf to ecosystem-scale ecophysiology, growth, carbon capture, carbon allocation, tree-microbe-soil interactions, nutrient cycling and water acquisition and tree resilience to pest and diseases. The key goal of Training School was to demonstrate how manipulation experiments are designed and run for simulating global change and how it affects functions of forest ecosystems.
The webinar will be dedicated to summarizing CLEANFOREST Training School, which took place at the University of Birmingham (10-12 June 2025). A brief summary of lectures, newly gained skills, fieldwork, and final results of participants’ work will be presented. Photos will also appear! 🙂
