On 29–30 September 2026, a core group of CLEANFOREST WG4 members gathered in Brussels, with additional participants joining online, for a collaborative workshop led by our young researchers Thu Uyen Bui and Natasa Kiorapostolou.
The workshop focused on advancing the ongoing systematic review assessing how forest resilience is monitored across major European monitoring networks, including ICP Forests, ICOS and eLTER. Participants worked together to review and harmonise the information collected, address methodological challenges, and identify remaining gaps. The meeting also provided an opportunity to agree on the next steps for data analysis and manuscript preparation.

On 6–7 October 2026, a small group of CLEANFOREST WG2 members met in Lund, again with additional participants joining online, for a workshop led by young researchers Caitlin Lewis and Carlos Landivar. The workshop was a chance to agree on the next steps of finalising a large systematic review, which has been the focus of much of the efforts of the working group during the COST Action. But the group also brainstormed future potential ideas and established the foundation for two new research initiatives that follow on from the review. The lively discussions have inspired future collaborations and stimulated working group engagement as we enter the final stages of our COST Action.

A great example of young researchers taking the lead in coordinating collaborative scientific work within CLEANFOREST!
