Date and time: 22nd May 2024; 15:00 – 15:45 PM (CET) – Twelfth webinar: Science as a key component of the policymaking process
The CLEANFOREST webinar series is hosted by the COST Action’s Young Researchers community for all interested researchers and practitioners usually during the second and fourth week of every month. We are honored to announce that for the Twelfth event in the series we will be joined by Chloe Hill, the EGU Policy Manager.
As Chloe put it: Science is a key component of the policymaking process, as it allows policymakers to more effectively consider their potential options and the consequences of any action or inaction. Societal challenges in the 21st century are also becoming interconnected and complex, subsequently often requiring a wide range of interdisciplinary expertise to find effective policy solutions. This is particularly true in cases involving global change drivers, forest ecosystems, and their role in specific policy areas.
Despite the important role that scientific evidence can play in policymaking, it can be challenging for researchers to know when and how to engage! This webinar will provide an introduction to some key ‘science for policy’ themes and provide specific details about when and how researchers can engage with policy to increase the impact of their efforts.
