Date and time: 24th April 2025; 12:00 – 12:45 AM (CET) – Introducing Pan-European Network of Green Deal Agriculture and Forestry Earth Observation Science (PANGEOS) COST Action
The CLEANFOREST webinar series is hosted by COST Action’s Young Researchers community for all interested researchers and practitioners, usually during the second and fourth week of every month. We are honored to announce that for the twenty-third event in the series, we will be joined by Egor Prikaziuk from the University of Twente, the Netherlands, one of the CLEANFOREST Young Researchers also involved in PANGEOS Cost Action. A short summary of his talk is given below.

A short summary of his talk is given below.
I am an assistant professor in the Ecological Hydrology of Plants at the Water Resources Department, Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente, the Netherlands. My research interests are soil-vegetation-atmosphere interactions, radiative transfer modeling, and, lately, disaster resilience. I embrace ITC’s capacity-building mission, developing and providing tailor-made training for global south countries in the scope of the ESA EO Africa project and beyond (Senegal, Kenya, India). I defended my MSCA-ITN PhD on Plant Productivity and Evaporation from Space in 2021.
During the talk, I will introduce the EU COST action PANGEOS (Pan-European Network of Green Deal Agriculture and Forestry Earth Observation Science, CA22136) that deals with proximal and remote sensing for phenotyping (WG1), precision agriculture (WG2), and sustainable land management of complex European landscapes (WG3). A cross-cutting WG4 helps in tracing the uncertainty in all those radiometric measurements. In fact, PANGEOS is a third-generation COST action funded in 2023 as a continuation of a successful SENSECO COST action (Optical synergies for spatiotemporal SENsing of Scalable ECOphysiological traits, 2018-2023, CA17134). I am proud to have been actively involved in those dynamic communities of experts. This webinar is a preparation for the upcoming interdisciplinary joint COST action summer school on forests, organized by four COST actions CLEANFOREST, PANGEOS, 3DforEcoTech, and ARiF in the UK on 4-8 August 2025. In this webinar, I am going to tell you (1) what remote sensing is, (2) what the current cutting-edge developments in the field of Earth Observation are, and (3) how we use this technology for forest and environmental monitoring. See you soon!
