Rocío Alonso del Amo. Senior researcher in the Ecotoxicology of Air Pollution Research Unit of the Environmental Department in CIEMAT- Research Center for Energy, Environment and Technology in Madrid (Spain). My research is focused on characterizing air pollutant deposition and effects on vegetation and the possible interaction between climate change and air pollution on carbon, nitrogen and water cycles. I also investigate the influence of urban vegetation in the air quality of the cities. I combine experimental and monitoring data with empirical models to characterize processes and to develop response functions to air pollution for risk analysis. Participate in the direction, maintenance and optimization of experimental facilities: atmospheric deposition experimental sites in Mediterranean forest and mountain areas; Open Top Chamber experimental facility to study air pollution effects. Participate in international networks on air pollution and climate effects such as ICP- Vegetation of CLRTAP, IUFRO Research Group 8.04.00, ILTER Nitrogen Initiative WG, CAPERMED, Urban and Peri-urban Forestry WG of Silva-Mediterranea-FAO.
