Dr. Emira Hukić (University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Forestry, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is an early-stage researcher in the field of soil science, investigating carbon and nutrient stocks and dynamics in managed and disturbed temperate unevenaged mixed beech and fir forest ecosystems. She is an investigator of the soil organic carbon benchmark stocks in old growth and virgin forests in Dinaric mountain region. Also, she conducts research on soil humus forms dynamics, soil organic carbon and nutrients changes in relation to light conditions and micrometeorology. Her interest is in exploring soil respiration dynamics by using measured data and modeling. The aim is to provide scientific knowledge to optimize the forest management practices to increase carbon sink capacity while providing higher forest productivity. Generally she is interested in different disturbances effects on forest soils worldwide.
